What is happening in Pakistan?

Heavy rainfall has affected large parts of the country, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK).

This, combined with flash flooding, has caused damage and destruction to buildings and farms and hundreds of families have also lost their livestock.

The most recent spell in mid-August triggered devastating flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan, causing extensive loss of life and property.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone, 479 lost their lives and more than 271 were injured.

There are now predictions of further heavy rainfall and flooding in the coming days and weeks.
